The Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carrier, QEC, on the water between two river banks

Summary

Xpedite was awarded the contract to support the activities of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and within the HMS Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) RCM projects. The QEC aircraft carriers, HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales, are the largest warships ever built for the Royal Navy and are each capable of carrying up to 40 aircraft. The carriers will ensure Britain’s interests are protected throughout the world, and HMS Queen Elizabeth is expected  to remain the Royal Navy’s flagship for decades to come.

The project utilised Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) to ensure safe, auditable, and cost-effective maintenance throughout the vessel’s life. Working to MoD standards (Defence Standard 00-45), Xpedite defined an effective maintenance strategy for the QEC aircraft carriers.

Xpedite provided RCM support, including contract facilitation, mentoring, and training. Our experience from the ASTUTE Class Submarines project ensured a viable and defensible RCM solution. Xpedite also managed the Integrated UMMS Environment (IUE), handling data management, Job Information Cards (JICs), and maintenance scheduling within UMMS.

Moving forward, Xpedite continues to support the Queen Elizabeth Class with maintenance and asset management, and is developing solutions for HMS Prince of Wales as through-life MMS managers.
